The following complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau of Santa Barbara which serves the Tri-County area: The implements used on, and applied to my scalp, hair and toenails were unsanitary. The implements used on my scalp and hair were laying on a dirty countertop, and the implements used on my toes were taken from a personal toolbox. There was zero evidence of any sanitizing substrate for any implement used on customers at any of the stations. I observed the same unsanitary condition and practices situation on another customer. The "shop" is filthy: the counter tops were dirty, the floor filthy, the air had a pervasive stench, which I could not readily identify but can only say, was not from hair product. The sinks were filthy. The "instructor" ignored several requests for assistance by the student working on my hair. The instructor showed up at the station after the work had been done at which point she gave directives to the student in a rude and demeaning way. When I asked for a towel to dry my hair, I was handed a dirty rag, literally. None of these complaints should be placed on the student. It is entirely the responsibility of the owner and the owner's staff, in this case the "instructor". I am thoroughly disgusted that this business is open to the public, and further disgusted by the way the student's are treated. Resolution Sought: 1) Refund my money. Close their doors to the public until the County Health Department conducts an inspection. 2) Incur the cost of my MRSA test. Date Problem Started: 10/14/2008 Date of Transaction: 10/14/2008 Amount in Dispute: $1500.00 Invoice Number: Pending Complaint Type: Gen. Service Issues Product or Service: School of Cosmetology open to the public for cosmetology services. The following is the reply from the Better Business Bureau of Santa Barbara: In the absence of any response from the company this complaint despite our two requests to them, we are closing our file on this complaint. This unanswered complaint will become part of the information we report to the public on this company for the next three years. Should any government agency request our files on this company, your complaint will also be included.
