Golden Gate University is a private non-profit university founded in 1901 and headquartered in San Francisco, California. As of 1 September 2006, Golden Gate University has five academic divisions: Ageno School of Business, Division of General Education, School of Accounting, School of Law, School of Taxation. The Los Angeles campus was established in the 1970s and offers graduate in taxation through the School of Taxation and the School of Law. The School of Taxation, the largest and one of the most respected graduate tax programs in the country, has earned a reputation for providing the most comprehensive online and in-person tax education available. The university also offers doctoral and post-doctoral programs in law, with specialised post-JD degrees in intellectual property, environmental law, taxation, United States Legal Studies, and international law. A large minority segment of students from the east coast, practitioner-scholars from Ivy League, Big East, Big Ten universities in addition to local part-time faculty from UC Berkeley, UC Hastings and Stanford underlines Golden Gate University’s strong commitment to “real world” applications of a quality graduate education.
