Victor Valley College Academics
Victor Valley Community College, also referred to as Victor Valley College or VVCC, was founded in 1961, and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college offers more than 40 programs of study in diverse fields. VVCC awards certificates, associate’s degrees, and bachelor’s degrees. Online courses are also available at VVCC.
Programs are offered through the following academic departments:
- Department of Health Sciences and Public Safety
- Department of Humanities, Arts and Letters
- Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- Department of Student & Workforce Development
Students can choose from courses in respiratory therapy, political science, nursing, media arts, electronics and computer technology, child development, and anthropology.
Victor Valley College Admissions
Students wishing to enroll at VVCC should contact the Admissions and Records Office. The college offers admission to high school graduates, and students who have either a GED or a CHSPE certification. Transfer students, as well as international and out-of-state students are accepted at VVCC. New or returning students can submit their application forms online. Forms and credentials can also be sent in to the college’s admissions office.
Following the submission of application forms, new students need to attend an orientation program and counseling session, complete an assessment test, and then register for classes. Applying for admission also entails the application for financial aid. This, however, is optional.
Victor Valley College Financial Aid
At VVCC, students are given the choice of applying for financial assistance programs that are available in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, work study programs, and Veterans or GI Bills. The Financial Aid Department caters to the financial-educational needs of students. The Sallie Mae Fund, Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship, Inland Empire Scholarship Fund, and Health Professions Education Foundation, are among the scholarship programs available for eligible candidates.
Students can also apply for Federal aid programs by completing and submitting the form for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There are different types of Federal aid programs including Cal Grants, Graduate Fellowships, Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans, and Federal Work Study Programs.
Victor Valley College Students
The student body of VVCC is represented by the Associated Student Body (ASB) Council. The ASB promotes cultural, educational, and social activities. Students are also involved in the various on-campus clubs and organizations. These include the Model United Nations, Ready Rams Club, Native American Students Association, Campus Crusade for Christ, and Phi Theta Kappa – International Honor Society of the Two Year College. The student-published newspaper is known as the RamPage.
VVCC has a library that holds a varied collection of books, journals, and other resource materials. It also provides services like photocopy machines and interlibrary loans. VVCC students can get all required textbooks, and other items such as gifts and college gear, at the Rams Bookstore. The bookstore also offers online shopping facilities. The Students Activities Center has a community conference center, staff and student restaurants, and also houses the offices of the student organizations. Students pursuing courses in the fields of agriculture, engineering, construction, and welding, have access to the Vocational Technology Labs. The Bus Transfer Center has an indoor waiting area as well as accessibility features for disabled students.
Victor Valley College Athletics
The athletics teams of VVCC participate in sports like basketball, track and field, soccer, and cross country. The college is a member of the California Community College Sports, Foothill Athletic Conference, and the Southern California Football Association. The Rams’ team colors are gold and maroon.
