West Los Angeles College (WLAC) offers 41 associate’s degrees and 25 skill certificates in disciplines as diverse as anthropology, liberal arts and hospitality. A certificate of achievement is awarded when a student has 18 or more units in a field of study. The school also offers a skill certificate which is issued for programs that are 17 units or less. The school offers almost 1,000 classes between 12 different programs. A few highlights include:
The Aviation and Travel program offers courses to help students obtain an FAA license.
The Communication, Entertainment and Media Arts Division offers skill certificates in cinema, broadcasting and theater.
The Humanities and Fine Arts Division at West Los Angeles hosts classes in architecture, art and music. The associate degree in art program includes classes in ceramics, art history and oil painting. The degree also offers a skill certificate in computer graphic arts.
The Language Arts Division at WLAC offers courses in English, Jewish studies and speech communication. The Jewish studies program offers field trips to Jewish historical and cultural sites around Los Angeles. They also offer a program that takes students on a trip to Israel to visit the holy city of Jerusalem. Students receive 6 academic credit units for the trip.
West Los Angeles College has recently added an internship program for all Los Angeles area Community Colleges. The internship program is available in computer technology, human resources and construction management.
