Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center (LHTEC) provides a variety of technical and vocational career-focused courses which include health science; arts, AV technology and communications; human services; transportation, distribution, and logistics; manufacturing; hospitality and tourism; education and training; and, architecture and construction. These programs prepare students for licensing and certification exams as well as providing them with a strong knowledge base for when they enter the workforce.

In addition, Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center also offers adult education classes to help adults improve their life skills and literacy, free citizenship courses; and, general education development (GED) preparation classes to achieve a high school diploma equivalent. LHTEC also provides English classes for students in which English is the second language. These classes are available in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings to suit all schedules. LHTEC also works with twelve area high schools to offer dual enrollment for the students so that they can get a jump start on their education while finishing up high school.

Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Council on Occupational Education.

Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center Admissions

Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center (LHTEC) serves over 12,000 students in both technical and vocational programs as well as adult general education programs. In addition, LHTEC provides the dual enrollment program for exceptional high school students from twelve local high schools in Miami-Dade County.

LHTEC requires a $15 application fee for all students enrolling in vocational studies. Other fees may include laboratory and textbook fees, and uniforms. Tuition fees are waived for students enrolled in adult GED classes, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses.

Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center Financial Aid

Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center (LHTEC) offers some financial aid options for qualifying students which includes grants, FE waivers, district financial aid, and other financial assistance.

To be considered for financial aid at LHTEC, prospective students must:

  1. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and request the completed application be sent to LHTEC.
  2. After receiving confirmation from submitting the FAFSA electronically, print a copy of the form, along with the confirmation number. Note: If no confirmation number is provided, then the application was not submitted.
  3. Wait one week and then visit the LHTEC financial aid office to ensure the application was received and that additional information is not needed.

Financial aid is not available to students applying for adult base education (ABE) classes, or for those applying for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses.
