Introduction

Founded in 1889, Saint Leo University is a private, regionally accredited liberal arts institute located in Saint Leo, Florida. Each year, the institute enrolls more than 16,000 students across the world thanks to Saint Leo University Online, which proudly offers the same highly-regarded degree programs to online learners that are offered at the traditional Florida campus and over 15 continuing education centers.

Academics

Through the Online Learning Center, Saint Leo University provides degree programs regardless of location and global reach, to students in more than 33 countries. Celebrating more than 25 years of continuing education, today Saint Leo University Online is the sixth largest provider of higher education to the military. Online learning can also provide accessible and flexible learning for adults.

Saint Leo University Online offers degrees and certificates through the following academic divisions: School of Business, School of Arts & Sciences, and School of Education & Social Services. The online programs are held to the same academic standards as the traditional on-campus programs. The University is regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which is one of six regional accreditation bodies of the United States.

Admissions

Saint Leo University admissions are on the rolling basis, so you can enroll at any time and initiate your studies during any one of the six convenient start dates in a year. The admission process is simple and straightforward. To become a degree-seeking student in any one of the online undergraduate programs, you will need to complete the online application form, submit proof of high school graduation, submit official academic transcripts, and the official scores for the following standardized examinations: Advanced Placement (AP), Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support (DANTES), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), Excelsior College Exams (ECE), USAFI, and Regents Examinations.

Getting a transfer to Saint Leo University is easy. It recognizes transfer credits only from the regionally accredited degree-granting institutions as listed in the American Council on Education’s Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education. International students seeking admission to the online programs must get their official transcripts evaluated and provide a proof of English language proficiency.

Financial Aid

Saint Leo University understands that your education is one of the most vital investments you will make in your lifetime. Hence, the Office of Student Financial Services helps ensure that you receive a financial aid to meet your needs through a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, and payment plans. Application seeking financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The federal grants offered to the students are Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Academic Competitiveness Grant, and National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant.

Scholarships include The Bailey Family Foundation Scholarship, Datatel Scholarship Foundation, Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship, The Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship, Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund, and United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Loans are the type of financial assistance that needs to be returned with interest. The loans offered at the University are Federal Loans, Federal Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized), and Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS).

Saint Leo University also offers a variety of Military & Veteran Aid for all active military and veterans. Some of the benefits include Yellow Ribbon Program, Montgomery G.I. Bill, Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program, Montgomery G.I. Bill- Selected Reserve, Reserve Educational Assistance Program, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Kickers & Additional Contributions. Other education related financial assistance programs include work-study programs, corporate assistance to employees returning to postsecondary school, veterans upward bound, and tuition assistance.

Students

Saint Leo University Online offers a wide range of services for the students to make their experience more fruitful and pleasant. Each student is provided a username/ID and password to access University web services at mySaintLeo web portal. The services include eCollege & Blackboard, eLion, Library Services, and Windows Live student email system. With the eCollege & Blackboard, you can log into your online courses to complete tasks, take exams, and interact with professors and fellow students.

The eLion allows search and register service for courses, and finding policies, documents, and information contained in the administrative database. Online students can also take advantage of the resources including book delivery, e-books, interlibrary loan, and professional, scholarly, and trade journals. The Windows Live student email system allows students to stay in touch with peers, and University staff and faculty.

With the above mentioned services, you can take online classes anytime, anywhere. You just need to log in to your computer and get connected to the Saint Leo University web portal to be able to assess the interactive classroom, take free orientation, use the state of art materials, interact with peers etc.
