Sheridan Technical Center is a two-year vocational school located in Hollywood, Florida. Sheridan offers 35 workforce development programs including automotive, culinary arts and cosmetology. The school also has programs geared towards adults including the Adult Basic Education program and the Vocational Preparatory Instruction Center.

Sheridan provides a program that helps students prepare for their General Education Development test. The program prepares students in five areas including language arts, reading, writing/mathematics, science, and social studies.

The automotive programs at the school include advanced automotive technology, collision and repair and the Ford ASSET program. The ASSET program is a joint venture between the school and the Ford Motor Company to train skilled technicians to work on Ford cars. The program includes hands-on training coupled with real-world situations.

The Gaming Repair Technician Program teaches students special and routine maintenance on casino gambling machines. Students can enter the program for education in the 90 hour slot machine attendant or the 270 hour full course that teaches about casinos, hotels and tropical resorts.

Sheridan also promotes specialized postsecondary programs such as marketing and distribution education. High school students will have the opportunity to prepare themselves for employment in the retail industry as shipping and receiving clerk, cashier or retail sales clerk. Students will receive an education in sales techniques, customer service and human relations.

Sheridan also offers A+, Cisco and i-net training as well as many specialized business and information technology courses.

Sheridan Technical Center is accredited by many associations including The Commission of the Council on Occupational Education and The Florida State Board of Nursing among others.

Sheridan Technical Center Admissions

Sheridan Technical Center applicants must attend a department orientation scheduled on a weekly basis. The orientation is also available online, but this is coupled with a TABE test. Counselor sessions and interviews are scheduled following the orientation to discuss any issues.

Application for high school students are to be completed through their high school guidance counselors.

Sheridan Technical Center Financial Aid

Sheridan Technical Center students who are in need of aid must complete a FAFSA application online. Students must also have a high school diploma or equivalent, or demonstrate the ability to benefit from job training. Students are also required to uphold a level of academic satisfaction to receive continued assistance.

Sheridan offers many types of aid including Pell Grants, Veteran’s Benefits and Scholarships.

Sheridan Technical College was founded in 1968 in Hollywood, Florida and is situated on 18 acres in the city. Hollywood, Florida is considered the 12th largest city in the state and is not far from the global city of Miami.

The school offers a state-of-the-art Media Center that houses the library among other learning materials.

Sheridan also offers a career placement program that helps students with resume writing, interview preparation and even tips on appropriate attire for interviews and job fairs. Coupled with the job placement program the school also provides a Career Assessment Center that offers assessments to assist in career planning.

The Military Spouse Program at Sheridan offers aid to families and spouses of active military in the form of a distance learning program that makes training from home easy. The program also offers face-to-face classes and quick real world training for many careers.
