Reinhardt College Summary
Reinhardt College is a private four-year co-educational liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. A devout Methodist, Captain Reinhardt requested the North Georgia Conference of the Methodist Church for help in establishing such a school. The academy gradually evolved into a privately supported two-year college and was accredited to offer associate degrees as a Level I institution by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1953. In 1994, the Commission on Colleges accredited Reinhardt as a Level II institution; Reinhardt currently offers programs in: In addition, a two-year associate degree in pre-nursing prepares students to transfer to a baccalaureate nursing program. Other important buildings at Reinhardt include the Falany Performing Arts Center, which houses the college’s music program and performance space, the Fincher Visual Arts Center, and the Brown Athletic Center. In the fall of 2006, Reinhardt enrolled 1060 students, with the majority on the Waleska campus and the remaining at the North Fulton Center in Alpharetta. Thirty-eight percent of Reinhardt students are upperclassmen (juniors and seniors); Reinhardt’s student to faculty ratio is 12:1, with an average class size of 14. Students also run a newspaper (The Reinhardt Hiltonian) and a television station (RCTV).
