Academics

IADT-Chicago offers a variety of programs in Design, Fashion, Media Arts and Technology. Additionally, IADT offers great flexibility for students and how they schedule their classes. Students have the options of taking classes on campus, online, or a combination of both. The last option is called a blended format. This allows students to combine night, weekend, and online classes and create a schedule that suits their needs.

IADT-Chicago develops programs to stay up to date with the employment market. As a result, students should feel confident about a school that works to prepare them for these opportunities. For its students, IADT-Chicago has a complimentary Career Guide that helps design and technology professionals gain access to their specific employment market.

Refresher Courses Available to Alumni

IADT offers a unique opportunity to their alumni. If space is available, IADT graduates are permitted to take refresher courses. These are courses that graduates have taken before, but desire to retake as an opportunity to refresh their knowledge or update their skills. Alumni can take these courses anytime after they graduate from IADT. A bonus is that alumni pay no tuition for these refresher courses. Additional requirements and cost like fees, supplies, and books may apply.

Admissions

For their students’ convenience, IADT has created an online admissions center that uses advanced Web technologies to simplify the admissions process. By expediting the completion of necessary paperwork and streamlining the time it takes to complete the application process, it gets students one step closer to the education that will prepare them to pursue the career of their dreams.

Requirements for admissions to IADT vary and depend on criteria such as the student’s background and current academic level; therefore, at every step of the process, admissions representatives are ready to help each prospective student.

First-Time Applicant Admissions Process

At the International Academy of Design & Technology, defining individual creativity is critical to success in our programs. And identifying this creativity starts in the admission process. Therefore, one of the initial steps in the admission process at IADT- Chicago is an interview to determine how the school may help students accomplish their goals. Some additional requirements include completing and submitting the following documents:

  • A completed application for admission, with application fee
  • Proof of either a high-school diploma, a high-school equivalency certificate, or official certification of completion of a home-education program
  • Official transcripts from high school or GED. And if the student has earned previous college credits, an official transcripts of such credits is needed
  • A signed copy of the Enrollment Agreement and IADT Student Disclosure Form

Admission requirements may vary depending on campus location. Further requirements may include additional documents and testing.

Military students

The International Academy of Design & Technology has representatives who are specifically trained in the most current and up to day knowledge of military benefits. These professionals are trained and ready to provide students with the advice on how IADT can best suit educational and professional goals of military students.

International students

The International Academy of Design & Technology believes in diversity and welcomes students from all around the world. Since admission requirements for international students require a few different steps from the general admissions process, it is advised that international students consult an admission specialist at IADT.

Re-entering Students

At IADT, opportunities are also available for re-entering students. These students are defined as those students who have attended any International Academy of Design & Technology location previously. The admission requirements and procedures for re-entering students are similar to that of new applicants. Depending on the circumstances, the application fee for some re-entering students may be waived. Additional requirements may apply.

Transfer students

Additionally, there are opportunities are available to transfer students at the International Academy of Design & Technology. Students who have taken previous courses at an accredited college or university other than IADT may petition IADT to accept their credits earned. However, IADT reserves the right to discern what credits may be accepted. Additionally, credits earned at the previous college are at the discretion of IADT to be deemed sufficiently equivalent to courses offered at the school.

Financial Aid

IADT-Chicago offers a variety of financial aid programs. Some possible sources of financial assistance are student loans and grants. Some of the financial aid options offered at IADT – Chicago include Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant, Federal Stafford, Federal Direct Parent-PLUS, and the Academic Competitiveness Grant. IADT-Chicago also offers a number of scholarships. It is strongly advised that students desiring financial aid apply early. Early enrollment allows sufficient time for application processing and better opportunities may exist for those who apply early.

Local Community

Students can enjoy the many outstanding resources the city of Chicago has to offer. Many of these city offerings are within walking distance of the campus. The city’s more than 40 museums are opportunities for students to experience the diverse cultural and educational resources that Chicago has to offer. Some of the museums include The Art Institute of Chicago, the Harold Washington Library Center, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Millennium Park and the Goodman Theater.
