Barclay College is a private, Religious Society of Friends (or Quaker) affiliated college in Haviland, Kansas. Barclay College educates students in many mainstream occupations, from business to teaching to psychology, as well as vocational ministries, such as Missions and Pastoral Ministry, while maintaining a staunch focus on “preparing students for life-long ministry in our world.” Barclay College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Formerly known as the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC), ABHE is a national accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In 1925, a two-year junior college course was added, and the name was changed in 1930 to Friends Bible College to more fully reflect the growing mission of the institution. This effort resulted in widespread support from the community and the college constituency and received general recognition in 1975 with the granting of full accreditation by the American Association of Bible Colleges (now the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges). For a more detailed description of Barclay’s rich history, contact the college to receive a copy of “Lighthouse on the Prairie”, written by Haviland resident and former president Sheldon Jackson. Barclay College recognizes that students are people who have many needs and joys in addition to their academic life. Believing that God wants to teach us and love us in every phase of our lives, Barclay College has developed an extensive student life program. On the Barclay College campus a favorite hang-out spot amongst the students is The Bear’s Den. The college is a member of the Midwest Christian College Conference (MCCC) including colleges in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa, and the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA).

Barclay College is unique in its study options. The university has disability services as well, so be sure to inquire about them if needed. In particular, the university has a Cross-Registration, Distance Learning, Double Major, Independent Study, Internships, Liberal Arts/Career Combination and Teacher Certification. There’s never a reason to feel alone in your studies either, since there are academic support services like Remedial Instruction, Study Skills Assistance and Tutoring. Again, when any student is looking for some counseling or other types of support, Employment Service, Freshman Orientation Program, Health Services, Personal Counseling and Placement Service can help.

Barclay College Admissions
Admission policy is currently Percent applicants admitted: 79% and Percent of students who return for sophomore year: 71%. Remember that this can change at any time. Transfer student are not ignored. For one thing, there were seven total number of transfer students who applied and seven total number of transfer students who were admitted. This school requires an application fee consisting of twenty-five dollars regular application fee, twenty-five dollars out-of-state application fee, Free online application fee and point zero .
The regular application is due the 1st of September. SAT and ACT score reports are due the 30th of July and the SAT subject section score due date was not reported. It is also very important to submit financial aid applications as quickly as possible, and make sure they are in by the 15th of July. For priority students, financial aid applications are due no later than the 31st of May. Will you make it in time? Make sure to know when all the due dates and deadlines take place.

Financial aid for students is readily accessible at this school. Financial aid forms are FAFSA and Institution’s own financial aid form. If you are not a need based student, non-need distribution for financial aid is determined by Academics, Alumni Affiliation, Leadership, Music/Drama and State/District Residency. Financial aid distribution is at fifty-nine percent scholarships per grants and forty-one percent loans per jobs. In the same way, need based financial aid distribution is determined through Academics, Alumni Affiliation, Leadership and Music/Drama.
