Lasell College is a private college in Newton, Massachusetts offering bachelor’s in professional disciplines such as Athletic Training, Fashion and Retail Merchandising, Communications, and Hospital and Event Management. During the college’s first semester, founder Edward Lasell died of typhoid fever and the school was renamed Lasell Female Seminary. The college created a radio station that began operation in the fall of 2004, which is produced by the students at Lasell College. Lasell College offers a bus/shuttle system, where the students of Lasell can be picked up and driven on the school’s campus as well as the Commuter Rail or T station (MBTA) which goes straight into the city of Boston. Lasell College created a retirement community, Lasell Village, to raise additional revenues but managed to keep its nonprofit status with the City of Newton.
