I have decided to try Northwest Desoto. I have called this particular campus several times to speak with someone in the Financial aide office and always get someones voice mail. This irritates me because my question is a simple one that can be answered over the phone. I live in Memphis and would hate to drive to this campus just to get a simple question answered. This makes me wonder.

I attempted to return to this school after a lengthy break from college. My financial aid was approved, I went to sign up for classes, and then they tell me before I begin that I will be on academic probation(from ten years ago) for grades from classes I will not only not be able to use, but am going to have to retake from them. Then I sent an email to the dean of admissions whom never returned an email- much less attempted to contact me personally. I got the sense that I was bothering them, and they didn't care one way or the other if I started classes there or not. I decided to attend a different college and would not recommend this college to anyone. The staff is rude, of no use if you have any questions, and does not go out of its way to help anyone.
There may be some excellent teachers on staff, but the ones I dealt with seemed to have chosen the wrong career. If you don't want to help people continue their education, find a job more suitable for you- hopefully working with zero people face to face. Maybe a bill collector.

I agree with anonymous the financial office lost my grant money the first year I tried to begin classes. I would call FAFSA office only to be told the school has it. The financial office would say no we don’t! I’m in my last semester and have all I can do to finish. Last semester my advisor whom by the way will not return calls or emails signed me up (for the first time) an on line class I just had and passed. She kept saying I needed to take it that I didn’t have it, but I knew I had just taken the class. Later I phoned left messages and nothing. I couldn’t drop it because it would ruin my grant funds. I emailed the dean with no response and went to the night dean. I already knew I wouldn’t get anywhere as I have walked by and heard other students complaining of other issues and he blew them off even laughed at them. He’s a heavy drinker with an I don’t care attitude I don’t know why he’s still there. He kept saying well you have to pay for the class when that wasn’t the issue it was an advisor who lied to me. When I emailed an administrator last year about the advisor not returning calls or emails they forward my email to her and she phoned me cursing me like I was a child calling me a liar and never tried to contact her. Other students in my classes all knew her and said they have had the same problem. Then financial 2 months ago said I wasn’t a student there in an email when I was inquiring on a letter I received. That was the Senatobia location and the rest was Southaven. Also this past semester they changed where you can proctor a test for on line classes without telling anyone. They no longer off it at the Southaven location. Teachers are told the students are advised of this upon registration, not true and also it was to be on the blackboard. Again not true it only said your teacher will give you the date and times of your mid-term and final. Don’t waste your money.

From my experience at the northwest, I can say that it was 70 percent negative considering the people that I've had to deal with that work there. The poorest area of this is school is the financial aid and business office. From my experiences, as well as experiences I have seen other people go through, they are very unprofessional, and they talk to some students like there in highschool if they don't understand their situation. I think the people in those offices make this school look extremely poorly, and while they are working there, they might need to take a few classes of their own to freshen up on their people skills. They need major PR work.
