Margot Ann (Wright) McKenzie

I am a most grateful alumnus of H'wood Presbyterian/Olmstead Memorial School of Nursing; started in 1952 and after 1 yr LOA graduated in 1956. My work history started in L&D immediately on graduation, then to private duty/office for Dr.F.A.M.Bryant (OBGYN ). Obstetrics followed me thru a 3yr stint in the USAF. 1962 saw me a civilian again, married and mother of my first of 2sons. I worked pretty much steadily thru the years until health forced retirement in 1997 - a pretty good run I would say. I got my BSN from Alaska Methodist University in Anchorage, where I lived from 1069 to 1979. In those years I functioned as a generalist in a number of direct and indirect patient care positions: ICU, ER, CCU, Med/Surg, LTC, Home Health, Staff Development. These jobs were carried out in NewFoundland (USAF), Calif, Alaska and Denver, Colorado. On retirement we moved to Orlando for my husband to keep working. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I would live in Florida, practically in Mickey's backyard. My focus now is church and related activities, including a lot of Scripture study; sewing and quilting.These 75 years have been a real E-ride (I think only my generation knows that term). I think about old classmates (Betty Hovey, Rene Cefalu, my roommate) and wonder how the years have been for them. The Lord has blessed me greatly; HPH prepared me for an interesting fruitful life. I wish I could thank Freda Gooding, our director, but she must have gone to her reward by now. So, thank you and God Bless you all. If possible, I would like to hear from anyone who remembers me or those years. Surprisingly, when I was doing Home Health in Denver, I ran across an alum from the '60s.
