The School DOES cut students after first year. There is also a February enrollment option (which I did). I was at another university, took a semester to finish up there and then came to AADA in February. The first year class size is usually around 250 students and in second year it is cut down to around half of that in varying degress based on talent from year to year. There is also a third year acting company to which usually no more than 20 people are invited to. I definitely recommend AADA to anyone looking for theatre schools, the teachers here have a lot of experience and more importantly really care about teaching you. They act outside of school and if they didn't want to be teaching, they wouldn't be. Here you know it's not a case of teaching being their last option.
