Mannes College The New School For Music is a music conservatory located in New York City, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. In 1953 Mannes started offering degrees and changed its name to the Mannes College of Music, In 1984 Mannes moved to its current home on West 85th Street. In 1989 Mannes joined New School University, a progressive university comprising eight schools (including Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College, and New School for Drama), bound by a common intent: to prepare and inspire its undergraduate and graduate students to bring actual, positive change to the world. In 2005, in going along with a publicity move by the New School, Mannes changed its name to Mannes College the New School for Music.
