Mid-South Bible College was first accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education in 1971 and, subsequently, in 1986 as a liberal arts college by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). To reflect its new comprehensive nature, the college changed its name from Mid-South Bible to Crichton College in 1987. Crichton College offers many activities for students. Major concerts by Christian performers, a coffeehouse film series, trips out of town, whitewater rafting, leadership development, outings to some of the best activities Memphis has to offer, such as Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis RiverKings and Memphis Redbirds games, all are a part of student life at Crichton.
