    Potomac State College of West Virginia University is the state’s only residential junior college. It is one of two community college elements of WVU (although it no longer emphasizes remedial education) and one of only two components of the University of West Virginia that do not offer advanced degrees (along with West Virginia University at Parkersburg). After decades as a regional campus of WVU, Potomac State became a division of the University on July 1, 2005 As a result of legislation passed by the West Virginia Legislature, the school became a “fully integrated junior college campus” of WVU on that date.
