Graduate Program/MBA Program

Academics

The MBA Program offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Arts in Management (MAM). Other programs include work-study programs and research projects conducted by faculty in a practicum course. The strongest areas of study are management and human resource management. Regular programs bring distinguished speakers and visiting professors to campus.

Thirty-six total credits are required to complete the MBA, including 12 elective credits. Required courses include:

Students may eliminate or substitute requirements by transferring up to 12 hours from other regionally accredited institutions.

The minimum time permitted to complete the master’s degree program attending full or part time is 1 year; maximum, 6 years.

There are 4 total full-time graduate business faculty, all of whom hold a doctorate. Average number of credit hours faculty teach is 24; average business class size is 11.

Admissions

A bachelor’s degree is required. The formula for using the GPA and GMAT scores is (3 x GPA) + GMAT/60. Most important admissions factors are GMAT results, grades in upper-level courses, and letters of recommendation. A strong mathematics background is not required.

The number of applicants for the 2006-2007 class was 3. Transfers are accepted.

Students may begin the MBA program in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. To apply, students must submit an application form, GMAT scores, GRE, a nonrefundable application fee of $35, and a statement of goals. The application deadline is open for fall entry. Students are notified on a rolling basis of the admissions decision.

Financial Aid

The FAFSA and the school’s own financial statement are required. Check with the school for current application deadlines.

Tuition for all students is $340 per credit, or $6120 per year. On-campus room and board costs approximately $3986; books and supplies, $1000; personal expenses, $3250; and other fees, $600, for an estimated annual total of $14,956. Single graduate students may reside in dormitory rooms. Married or single-parent students may apply for a university-maintained apartment or duplex.

Students

Thirteen percent of the current graduate business school class are enrolled full time. All students are from Texas. Twenty-five percent are women and 13% are minorities. The average age at entrance is 32; ages range from 21 to 54. In 2006, 2 graduate business degrees were awarded.
