Introduction

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide (ERAU) traces its origins to the early 1970s, when Dr. Wilbur A. Middleton, a U.S. Army officer at Fort Rucker, approached the school’s president, Jack Hunt, with the idea of establishing a college to offer credit degrees to Army aviators for their military technical training.

As the name suggests, this school is composed of more than 130 distance learning centers, many situated at community colleges and military bases, offering a wide variety of academic degree programs to students across the globe.

The student body boasts the most diverse mix that you can find. With students from all over the United States and several countries throughout the world, ERAU becomes a potpourri of different cultures and experiences. The Alumni Career Center acts as the common platform where the exiting and ex-students can come together to share business related information with the Eagle’s NEST members. The Eagle’s NEST is the primary website for the alumni. It forms the school’s main communications tool which allows the alumni to find alumni groups, access the master calendar, post professional and personal information, company information, as well as access networking sites like LinkedIN and FaceBook. Students can explore the various networking opportunities with fellow alumni, take a look at a member’s resume, and also add their own Business WebCard, Mentor Profile or Resume Profile to the site.

The LIFT is the alumni magazine. It provides the inside scoop of the university events and top stories. Athletics

This university has intercollegiate sport teams at Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses. The teams are nicknamed as Eagles, and they participate in a wide variety of sports such as volleyball, wrestling, cross country, soccer, football, and tennis. Eagles are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The athletic department of Daytona Beach supports 15 intercollegiate sports, and they compete in The Sun Conference. The athletic department of Prescott campus sponsors 6 intercollegiate sports; and the teams are members of the Association of Independent Institutions.

Alumni

The Office of Alumni Relations, in coordination with the Executive Vice President, selects a range of Worldwide Campus to host alumni receptions in combination with the graduation. The new graduates receive a leather portfolio which includes informational material from the Office of Alumni Relations. These portfolios are presented to the graduates as gifts from the Office of Alumni Relations and Worldwide Headquarters.

The local alumni are cordially invited to graduation events to celebrate their kinship with the university and new graduates. This also forms as a great platform for students and alumni to meet and network with professionals in the aviation/aerospace industry. The events also strengthen the connection between the various Worldwide Campus staff and local alumni members. It opens up new opportunities for those who may be interested in seeking additional degrees from the University. The Alumni-Student Connection Program provides a common platform for the current students to interact with alumni.
