Local Community

Just 5 miles from the bustling metropolis and major urban center of Atlanta, Georgia, Decatur is a small city with a great deal of history. Technically founded in 1823, the location was important during the Civil War. The city of Decatur has at several junctures chosen to remain small, deflecting the hustle and bustle of the modern world to nearby Atlanta, and maintaining a relatively small population of just 20,000 residents. Students at Omnitech enjoy cultural entertainment and features like the Neighborhood Playhouse community theater, and PushPin Theater, and all the exciting sporting events of nearby Atlanta. Sports spectators enjoy watching the Atlanta Braves, Flacons, Hawks, and Thrashers compete for their city, as well as heading to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for NASCAR and other racing events each year.

Heading out at night finds many of Decatur’s residents hopping into Atlanta for a variety of bars and clubs. For something more tranquil students can spend the weekends engaging in recreational fun like rafting the Chattooga River, camping at Stone Mountain park, or golfing and a number of nearby courses.
