Framingham State College, Office of Graduate and Continuing Education History
Framingham State College, founded in 1839, is a public, coeducational institution. The campus is located in a suburban area 20 miles west of Boston. Total undergraduate and graduate enrollment is 5861. Enrollment figures in the above capsule are approximate.
The Office of Graduate and Continuing Education was founded in 1980 and is located on the main campus. The basic educational approach is a mix of theoretical and case methods.

The Program in Business Administration offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Forty-eight total credits are required to complete the MBA, including 8 elective credits. Required courses for the MBA include: * Management Science

Students may eliminate or substitute requirements by having up to 5 courses waived.
Business students may take relevant nonbusiness courses in other departments. The minimum time permitted to complete the master’s degree program attending part time is 2 years; maximum, 6 years.
In a recent year, there were 4 total full-time graduate business faculty, of whom 75% held a doctorate; there were 9 part-time faculty, of whom 10% held a doctorate.

Library
The Henry Whitemore Library library houses a collection of more than 150,000 volumes. The business library is particularly strong in general business. Students have access to such databases and networks as Minute Man.
Computers
Graduate business students need not have their own PCs. The business school has its own computer facilities.

Calendar
The school operates on a traditional semester basis. Semesters are 15 weeks long. Graduate programs are offered during the evening only.

A bachelor’s degree is required, along with a GPA of 3.0. A strong mathematics background is not required.
Transfers are accepted. Minority students are actively recruited.
Students may begin the MBA program in the fall, spring, and summer. To apply, students must submit an application form, a transcript, GMAT score, a nonrefundable application fee of $50, 2 letters of recommendation, 2 essays, and a resume. The application deadline is July 1 for fall entry. Students are notified on a rolling basis of the admissions decision. Once accepted, students may defer admission for up to 1 year.

The FAFSA is required. The application deadline for fall entry is March 1.
Tuition for all students is $675 per credit. There is a referral service to help procure off-campus housing.

Ninety-five percent of a recent graduate business school class had an average of 3 years of full-time work experience prior to entering graduate school, a factor preferred by the school. All students were from the Northeast. Fifty-six percent were women and 5% were minorities. The average age at entrance was 27; ages ranged from 22 to 55. Ten percent entered directly from undergraduate school; 5% already had a graduate degree.
