Nossi College of Art Academics

If you want flexibility in scheduling paired with practical teaching methods, look no further than Nossi College of Art. About 20 minutes outside Nashville, Nossi College of Art is located in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Nossi has been helping aspiring artists build their portfolios and prepare for success for over 35 years.

The faculty members have all worked out in the real world and know exactly what it takes to get hired as a graphic designer, web designer, photographer or illustrator. This experience not only prepares the students for gainful employment, but has also helped to garner multiple awards for the school. Year after year, Nossi students are honored by the Annual Student ADDY Awards, which is the advertising community’s sole creative awards program.

Given its small private school nature, Nossi students get close attention from faculty members. The coursework starts with fundamentals. Students first learn the basic skills and theories of visual communication. Upon this foundation, the instructors are able to instill advanced, yet practical, techniques.

Nossi College of Art offers bachelor’s degrees in commercial illustration, graphic art and design, and digital photography and video. Associate’s degrees are offered in commercial digital photography, and graphic art and design. The degrees are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. The school is also authorized as a post-secondary institution by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.

As a student you will have access to the library and its constantly growing collection of over 2,000 volumes and more than 25 periodical subscriptions. Whatever you can’t find in the library itself, you can probably find through Tennessee Electronic Library, which is an online database with nearly unlimited media and reference access. The library is a great place for studying and to get work done. It is equipped with wireless access, computers, a printer, a scanner and audiovisual equipment.

The school offers the services of a full-time Job Placement Director. The job placement part of the Nossi College of Art Web site is constantly updated with recent placements and information for hiring companies. The Job Placement Director helps students to find full-time, part-time and free-lance work, as well as internships.

Nossi College of Art Admissions

Of course, the first step in the admissions process is to possess a high school diploma or GED. Once the application is filled out, potential students must pay the application fee of $100 and have their high school send in their transcripts. Nossi requires that all potential students then take a tour of the campus and have a personal interview with the Admissions Director. This is a personal touch that you won’t get at bigger art schools. The process gets students pre-acquainted to their future stomping grounds and puts them directly in touch with a member of the administration.

However, not just anyone can apply to any of the degree programs offered by Nossi College of Art. Those wishing to study graphic art and design or illustration must bring a portfolio of 8 to 10 examples of their recent art work to their interview with the Admissions Director. While portfolios are evaluated on the basis of sheer skills and creativity, potential for professional competence is also taken into consideration.

Financial Aid

Don’t let the words “private school” scare you away from applying to Nossi College of Art. Not only is tuition quite affordable in regards to private schools, but there are also scholarships available. Merit scholarships are offered by the college based on portfolios, which are presented during the admissions interview. Students can also apply for federal assistance, such as the Pell Grant.

Additionally, a great thing about Nossi is its “fixed tuition policy.” This policy guarantees that your tuition will never increase for the entire time that you are enrolled. Whatever the price of tuition per semester is when you enter is what you will pay every semester. This is an unheard of policy among both public and private colleges. Its great because it allows students to know exactly how much money they need to complete their education from day one.

Talk to someone who has graduated from this college like me and a bunch of my friends. I have friends that are in all the graduate programs and none of them can get a job. I have went to interviews many times and after the interviewer read what college I went to and asked me about the things I was trained in, I wasn't hired. Nossi told me that they could guarantee me a job when I graduate because they had really good connections. Its a secretary sending mass email letter, jobs that are from other states. WOW like I am going to move to Alaska for a job that pays 20,000 a year and less. I have called up to Nossi several times and now the secretary just gives me the run around. Its not just me but almost all Nossi graduates don't get real jobs. I am not talking about freelancing either but a full time job. Nossi is a bull crap college that will get you no where. Please don't make the same mistake I did and go to a real college. I am going to another college and getting a real degree this time so I can pay my loans off for Nossi and the new college I am going to. You want to now where this degree got me a job at well a factory. If anyone has had this same issue please help me place a lawsuit on this college so they can't rip off anymore people.

when my daughter enrolled at NOSSI, we were concerned about their weather policy. they told us if davidson co schools closed they would be closed. instead they force their student on the road to risk their lives during bad weather.they are only interested in the money. if my daughter was not almost finished, i would send her to another school. also there is no plan for making up classes missed in bad weather. this school policies are terible.
