American Military University (AMU) is a private, for profit online learning university and a member institution of the American Public University System. Their academic credentials include such institutions as the University of Chicago, University of Southern California, University of Notre Dame, Stanford University, Cambridge University, and Harvard University. American Military University — and later American Public University System — has been nationally accredited since 1995 by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In May 2006, American Public University System earned regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).

AMU is an outstanding University. Courses are challenging and professors are first-class educators. Not a school for underachievers or people that are not motivated or habitually procrastinate. Prepare to do a lot of reading and a lot of writing.

Despite the fact that this is an online institution, AMU maintains high academic standards. The classwork is challenging but not overwhelming, and in my experience, the faculty is very understanding and supportive of individual needs (such as deployments). Everyone I have had contact with at the school has been courteous and helpful. So far it's been a great experience.
