The Lincoln Community Foundation was founded in 1955 by Henry Woods and Thomas C. Frank. The foundation started off as a community trust used to disperse donations and funding according to needs of the community. The dedication of the two founders has created an organization that forces the community to come together and become a better, more efficient place to live and work. They have funds that are dedicated to hundreds of specific aspects of the community. Education and the assistance of students who are wishing to pursue a higher education is among the funds that are donated to frequently. Over time, scholarships have developed in honor of those who have played a significant role in the creation of the foundation or worked as an activist toward raising money and providing educational opportunities to students.

They currently have over 350 funds operating through their organization due to the generosity of individuals, families, corporations and charities within their community. The foundation is located in Lancaster County, Nebraska. They currently provide several scholarships, financial aid and grant opportunities for students who wish to pursue higher education. Several of their funds are dedicated to higher education and providing students with resources they need in order to succeed, particularly if they are experiencing financial hardships.
