Academics

Situated on 16 acres of land, Roxbury Community College (RCC) offers 27 degree programs as well as 11 certificate programs within four divisions: business technology; nursing/allied health; liberal arts; and, math and science technology.

RCC provides an associate of arts degree program in the following areas of study: broadcast media, visual arts, theatre, social science, pre-nursing, pre-engineering, musical arts, international business, English, general education, physical science, mathematics, business administration, biological science, arts and humanities, and environmental management & pollution prevention. The associate of science degree program offered can be earned through the following disciplines: office administration, nursing, microcomputer applications, criminal justice, early childhood, web technologies, computer science, business management, accounting, computer information systems, and, network security administration. In addition, RCC offers several certificate programs in a variety of fields of study including allied health, paralegal studies, bookkeeping, office technology—word processing and training, CAD mechanical drafting I, computer information systems, microcomputer applications, hospitality operations, and, computer network administration.

RCC also offers an honors program for academically challenged students, dual enrollment for high school students wanting to get a jump start on higher education, as well as continuing education and online classes for students with busy schedules seeking a flexible learning environment. For adults interested in finishing up their high school education, RCC offers a GED program.

Admissions

Roxbury Community College (RCC) serves a wide range of students including, degree-seeking, international, and transfer students, as well as students seeking certificates, high school students, and working professionals.

To be admitted to RCC, prospective students must follow these steps:

  • Fill out and submit an admissions application form along with a $10 non-refundable application fee for Massachusetts residents; a $35 non-refundable application fee for out-of-state residents (certified check or money order only)
  • Send transcripts (high school and prior college)
  • Take assessment tests
  • Schedule student orientation
  • If enrolling in one of the health science programs, students must send proof of immunizations against the following diseases: mumps, measles, diphtheria, rubella, and tetanus

Financial Aid

Roxbury Community College (RCC) offers several financial aid options for qualifying students including grants, scholarships, loans, work study programs, private loan financing, and tuition payment plans.

All students are required to fill out and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for financial assistance by the following semester deadlines: fall/spring semester—May 15; and, spring only—November 1. Note: Summer financial aid is offered on a limited basis.

Students

Roxbury Community College’s campus is divided strategically to assist students with their college needs. The main campus consists of five buildings, including the student center, administration, academics, media arts, and the track and athletic center. The Roxbury campus consists of the another six buildings which house the classrooms, science and computer labs, the Learning Center, library, student bookstore, an on-campus day care center, a theater, music, dance and art studios, student lounges, student activities, and small group meeting rooms.

Athletics

Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a member of the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region XXI, and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Teams supported by RCC include men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s baseball, women’s indoor track & field, cheerleading, men’s indoor track & field, women’s outdoor track & field, men’s outdoor track & field, and men’s soccer. The mascot is the Tigers.

In 2000, the men’s basketball team took the title for the Division III National Championship.
