Academics

Academy College offers Bachelors and Associates degrees and Certificate programs in a variety of professional fields including aviation, health care, medical technology and digital arts.

The Aviation Program offers three different fields of study including aviation business, aircraft dispatch, and a professional pilot program. The school trains students in single and multi-engine aircraft at the Minneapolis/Crystal Airport in Crystal, Minneapolis. The aviation business program is a 101 credit program that combines aviation classes with business and technical courses including aviation principles and flight training.

The computer technology programs include computer science, network administration and software programming. Students can earn a bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or certificate in computer science. The database administration program is a 102 credit hour program that includes courses in operating systems, programming concepts and Oracle architecture. This program prepares students for careers such as data architect and technical support.

The digital arts program includes concentrations in digital design, computer animation and design, graphic design and web design. The digital arts and design program is 180 quarter credits and offers classes in advanced drawing, visual storytelling and art history. This degree helps students begin careers as illustrators, creative directors, and other hands-on art professionals.

Online classes may help students earn a Bachelor of Science in Business or take individual classes at a time that is convenient for them. Students are required to attend an orientation prior to the beginning of an online program.

The Medical and Health Program offers certificates in medical assisting, medical administration and medical billing, and coding. The medical administration program is a 58 quarter credit program that offers classes in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and medical law and ethics.

Admissions

Students must complete an official admissions application and pay a nonrefundable application fee. Students must also submit high school or equivalent transcripts along with SAT/ACT scores. Immunization records are required by 45 days after the start of class. Academy College strongly urges students to schedule an interview prior to registration to get familiar with the school.

Admission to the aviation program requires students to pass appropriate FAA medical examinations; read, speak and understand English; and be at least 18 years old at time of commercial pilot certification. All requirements for entrance into the program are based on FAA Regulations.

Financial Aid

Students requiring financial aid must complete a FAFSA form to be considered. The school offers loans, grants and scholarships.

Students

Tutoring, course study sessions, computer and keyboard training, online training, and program counseling are available to all students. Also, the school offers a unique academic opportunity: students enrolled in a minimum of 16 credit hours are eligible to enroll in one extra course for free. This tuition-free program helps many students save money as they complete their education and advance into a career.
