College of Santa Fe, MBA Program History
College of Santa Fe, founded in 1874, is a private, coeducational institution. The 98-acre campus is located in a suburban area 60 miles north of Albuquerque in Santa Fe. Total undergraduate and graduate enrollment is 2008.
The MBA Program was founded in 1985 and is located on the main campus. Courses also are offered at Albuquerque (MBA). The basic educational approach is a balanced one, neither heavily quantitative, nor exclusively behavioral, but designed through the study of theory and cases to provide current advanced business expertise applicable to private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

The MBA program offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA). The strongest areas of study are finance and human resource management.
Thirty-six total credits are required to complete the MBA Core, including 9 elective credits. Required courses for the MBA Core include:

The maximum time permitted to complete the master’s degree program attending full time or part time is 5 years.
There are 4 total full-time graduate business faculty, of whom 50% hold a doctorate; there are 14 part-time faculty. Faculty salaries are rated above average for Category IIB institutions, based on the AAUP rating system. Average number of courses faculty teach is 6; average business class size is 12.
College of Santa Fe, MBA Program Unique Programs
Library
The university’s main library houses a collection of more than 156,188 volumes, 87, 550 microform items, and 14,928 audio/video tapes/CDs, and subscribes to 378 periodicals. Students have access to such databases and networks as ABI/INFORM, Business & Company Resource Center, BusDateline, Busindustry, NusOrgs, Bus/Management, EconLit, and other services including electronic resources on CD-ROM.
Computers
Graduate business students need not have their own PCs. Available computer facilities consist of 160 terminals with various databases, modeling, presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
Career and Job Placement
Placement services are extensive and are available through the university placement office.
International Students
International students must take the TOEFL. International students must score 550 on the Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT) or 79 on the Internet-Based (iBT) version. They also must submit a translation of their transcripts. There is a special fee of $4000 tuition deposit after acceptance. International students may be considered for scholarships after admission. The application deadline for fall entry is rolling.
Calendar
The school operates on a 5 9-week terms per year basis. Semesters are 9 weeks long; summer sessions, 9 weeks. Graduate programs are offered during the evening only and weekends.
College of Santa Fe, MBA Program Admissions
A bachelor’s degree is required, along with a GPA of 3.0. Most important admissions factors are grades in upper-level courses, a successful interview, and letters of recommendation. A strong mathematics background is not required.
Transfers are accepted. Minority students are actively recruited.
Students may begin the MBA program in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. To apply, students must submit an application form, a transcript, a nonrefundable application fee of $35, and 2 letters of recommendation. A preadmission interview is required. The application deadlines are July for fall entry; December, winter; March, spring; May, summer. Students are notified ot the admissions decision prior to the start of the term. The latest acceptable test date for fall entry is open. Once accepted, students may defer admission. Students have 1 year to register and can begin at any of the 5 terms within that year.
College of Santa Fe, MBA Program Financial Aid
About 18% of graduate business school students receive financial aid from scholarships, loans, and graduate assistantships. The FAFSA and the previous year’s tax return are required. Check with the school for current application deadlines.
Tuition for all students is $385 per credit. Graduate student housing is not available.
College of Santa Fe, MBA Program Students
Ninety-nine percent of the current graduate business school class have had full-time work experience prior to entering graduate school. The greatest percentage of students are from New Mexico (97%). Sixty-three percent are women and 1% are foreign nationals. Students’ undergraduate majors were as follows: 50%, business; 15%, liberal arts; 15%, math and science; and 10%, social sciences. In 2006, 37 graduate business degrees were awarded.
