Introduction

ITT Educational Services, Inc. is a leading private college system which operates more than one hundred ITT Technical Institutes in over 35 states across the country. With its headquarters in Carmel, Indiana, it has been actively involved in providing higher education to the community since 1969. ITT Technical Institute-Monroeville is a proprietary two-year technical college, situated in Pennsylvania.

Academics

ITT Technical Institute-Monroeville is focused on technology-oriented programs of study. The programs of study combine traditional academic content with the applied learning concepts, with a major portion devoted to the practical study in a lab environment. The advisory committees, which are comprised of representatives of local businesses and employers, assist each ITT Technical Institute occasionally assess and update curriculum, equipment, as well as the laboratory design.

Some of the degree programs offered at the institute include Associate of CAD/CADD Drafting/Design; Associate of Computer Networking/Telecommunications; Associate of Computer Programming – General; Associate of Electrical Engineering Technologies; Associate of Networking/LAN/WAN Management; Associate of Web/Multimedia Design; and Associate of Web/Multimedia Management.

The educational programs at ITT Tech continue throughout the year. This helps students to complete their education and enter the work force quite sooner. Depending on the student enrollment, new classes usually begin each quarter in most programs. The Institute focuses on helping students develop critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Schools and Colleges:

The ITT Technical Institute is composed of the following five academic schools: School of Information Technology, School of Drafting and Design, School of Electronics Technology, School of Business, and School of Criminal Justice. These schools teach skills and knowledge that enable students to kick start their careers in a global technology-driven culture.

The ITT Technical Institute identifies the educational needs of students who are unable to attend a regular college due to several problems. Thus, the institute offers several programs online, which includes an online MBA program and bachelor’s and associate’s degree programs in the areas of business, technology, and criminal justice. With ITT Tech’s online education, a quality education is now available anywhere, anytime, according to the convenience of the students.

Admissions

The admission process at ITT Technical Institute is quite easy. Applicants must have a high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent; meet with a representative of ITT Tech; pass an admissions test or take ACT or SAT. All official transcripts along with completed application must be sent to the institute. Students are welcome to tour the campus and meet the counselors.

Financial Aid

All ITT Technical Institutes (except in some instances the most recently opened institutes) are well-accredited and are eligible to partake in the federal student financial aid programs, authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended and as administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

The students receive financial aid as gifts in the form of money, discount, favor, gratuity, stock, prize, loan or anything of value. The types of grants or loans include Federal Pell Grant, Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant, Federal National Science and Mathematics, Access to Retain Talent, Federal Supplemental Education, Opportunity Grant, Direct Federal PLUS Loans, Direct Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan, and Direct Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan.

Students

At ITT Technical Institute-Monroeville, the students are encouraged to take part in the student activities to help develop traits like individual initiative, group leadership, and cooperation. It is the chief goal of the school to help students contribute in activities which are related to satisfying social needs, providing educational objectives, offering recreational opportunities and encouraging cultural enrichment. However, the school-related student activities must be sanctioned, approved, and supervised by the school.

The ITT Technical Institute offers a variety of student services. Some of the more popular student services include academic advising, which is available to support the student academic requirements outside of the classroom; and career services, which are available to help students find part-time employment while in school, and graduates find employment in their fields of study upon graduation.

At an ITT Technical Institute, career preparation of the students begins long before graduation to ensure that they are ready when the time comes for them to take the plunge into the global market. The institute provides a wide range of assistance on job seeking and job keeping skills and techniques. In addition, students are also advised of entry level job openings and various interview opportunities.

Campus Facilities:

The ITT Technical Institute has a Virtual Library that is accessible online and it supports the educational activities of community by providing students, faculty members and staff with access to books, references, magazines and journals online. It is a great source of information for research and learning. The Career Center at the institute provides valuable information to the students in the career related fields such as career direction, tips on writing impressive resumes and cover letters. They also teach job search techniques and interviewing strategies to the students.

The Learning Resource Center at ITT Technical Institute keeps the students informed of the various opportunities present in technology fields. Many men and women have greatly benefited from expert counseling that helped them take the right career decision, add weight to their resume and attain great heights in their field of interest. Many students achieved a great hike after completing the courses and programs offered at the institute.

According to U.S. Department of Education data, all of the ITT Technical Institutes combined granted the largest percentage (14.7 percent) of the total number of associate’s and bachelor’s degrees awarded in the country in electronics and electronics-related programs (as per stats of the 2000-2001 school year).

ITT Technical Institute also offers a range of veteran benefits.
