Grants, Student Loans, & Fellowships

The TKE Educational Foundation is a charitable organization that is independent of the fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon. They work to raise money, host events and provide an educational experience to help support leadership opportunities and personal achievement goals among students and individuals.

The foundation gives out a variety of scholarships and awards to fund fraternity programs, regional leadership conferences and members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. There is currently over 30 scholarships available to help give students the financial support needed in order to fund their education and college experience.

Scholarships Offered by the TKE Educational Foundation

The Bruce B. Melchert Scholarship is for an active member of the TKE fraternity who has demonstrated excellent academic achievement and significant leadership through their time in the fraternity chapter. They must have served as a recruitment chair member, prytanis or other notable officer position in the fraternity. Applicants must be at least a sophomore in college and pursuing a degree in government or political science. The scholarship is for $150.

The Carrol C. Hall Memorial Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. They must have also demonstrated excellent community and leadership skills within their chapter, community or college campus. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in science or education with plans to work in the science field or as a teacher. This scholarship is for $250.

The Charles D. Trabold Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must have a record of excellent community and leadership skills within their fraternity chapter, college campus or community. Applicants can be majoring in any field of their choosing. This scholarship is for $600.

The Charles R. Walgreen Jr. Leadership Award is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and a record of academic excellence. Applicants must also have a record of notable community and leadership skills within their fraternity chapter, college campus or community. Applicants can be majoring in any field of their choosing. This scholarship is for $875.

The Donald A. and John R. Fisher Memorial Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and a record of academic excellence. Applicants must also have a record of significant community and leadership skills within their college campus, fraternity chapter or community. Applicants can be majoring in any field of their choosing. This scholarship is for $500.

The Doris and Elmer H. Schmitz, Sr. Memorial Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must have served as an officer within their fraternity and demonstrated excellent and significant leadership skills. Preference will be given to residents of the state of Wisconsin. This scholarship is for $175.

The Dwayne R. Woerpel Memorial Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must demonstrate a record of excellent leadership skills within their fraternity, community and religious institution. Preference will be given to applicants who have graduated from the TKE Leadership Academy. This scholarship is for $275.

The Francis J. Flynn Memorial Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. Applicants must be an undergraduate studying education or mathematics. Preference for this scholarship is given to members of the Theta-Sigma chapter. This scholarship is for $475.

The Harry J. Donnelly Memorial Scholarship is for TKE fraternity members with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must be working toward an undergraduate degree in accounting or a graduate degree in law with plans to be a full-time student during the time their scholarship is used. This scholarship is for $300.

Things to Consider About the TKE Education Foundation

Applications for any scholarships offered through the TKE Education Foundation can be filled out on the foundation website. Applications must be submitted along with a copy of the applicant’s official transcripts and a wallet sized head and shoulders photograph. Applications for all scholarships are due in February.
