Northeast Alabama Community College offers the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science. These programs of study offer a comprehensive education geared towards university transfer, promoting general education and major-related courses to complement each other in a two-year program.

In addition to offering traditional on-site classes, Northeast Alabama Community College also features a strong distance education program for students who wish to study at the college remotely. The courses offered through the distance education division can also be applied toward a degree program or used for transfer purposes. The classes are of the same level and rigor as traditional classes at Northeast Alabama Community College. The main difference is the unique online teacher-student interaction. Distance education courses require approximately 6 to 9 hours of study per week and is the preferable option over traditional classes for a number of students. Admissions

Northeast Alabama Community College welcomes all students, including out-of-state and international candidates. The admission process is quite similar to other community colleges in that students will have to undertake the COMPASS testing to place themselves in the appropriate math, English and reading classes. It is also possible for individuals who do not meet the admission eligibility requirements to enroll in classes that are not for course credit. The college recommends that all applicants submit their documents early in order to have enough time to complete the placement testing, attend an orientation session, and meet with a counselor. The open-door policy at Northeast Alabama is a good opportunity for all students to gain acceptance at the college and be allowed to further their education regardless of their background. It is also possible for high school students to opt for dual enrollment and earn college credit while completing their high school diploma.

Huntsville, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee are both only a short drive away from the campus and can provide entertainment for students, their friends and family. Nashville, country music’s favorite city, is also located just a few hours away from Rainsville as are the Great Smoky Mountains and the Ocoee River.
