Located in Eunice, Louisiana, Louisiana State University was founded in 1964 by the Louisiana State Legislature. Designed to serve students in and around southwest Louisiana, LSU Eunice offers a wide variety of courses, as well as diploma and associate degree awarding programs. With the many options for areas of study and easily transferrable, accredited programs offered, students may choose from hundreds of academic, vocational and career possibilities at LSU Eunice. In order to provide maximum convenience, students at LSU Eunice may also take classes at the Alexandria campus.

Some of the programs offered include associate degree programs in the arts, science, general studies, computer information technology, management, criminal justice, care & development of young children, fire and emergency services, nursing, office information systems, paralegal studies, respiratory care and radiologic technology. Students may also elect technical diploma and certificate awarding programs in areas like fire science technology, evidence recovery technology, hospitality tourism management, crime scene management, quality environmental health safety leadership technology, and diagnostic medical sonography. Additional technical competency areas include medical billing, coding and transcription, hospitality supervision, geographical information systems and more.

Unique Programs

While at LSU Eunice students have access to the state of the art Office of Information Technology. This office is in charge of administrative computing, academic computing, classroom and lab support, telecommunications and networking with mobile devices, institutional research, and LSUE/TV. Admissions

Prospective students may apply for admission online, during the spring inter-session, summer, or fall Semesters. Applicants must then visit or contact the LSU Eunice Business Office to pay a non-refundable application fee.

Financial Aid

Students wishing to apply for financial aid at LSU Eunice should begin by contacting the Office of Financial Aid, and/or the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance. Types of financial assistance for which students may qualify include federal aid, tax credits, or scholarships. To begin the application process students must submit the FAFSA. In order to qualify for some scholarships, graduating high school students should be sure to take the SAT or ACT exams prior to admission. Federal aid is available to students as detailed in The Student Guide published by the Federal Government, and may include grants, loans, and/or work study programs.

Merit-based scholarships are available from a variety of sources such as private donors, businesses and community organizations through private donation and endowments. Students must apply by the scholarship deadline, and should be sure to check with the Office of Financial Aid when considering applying for specifics on such dates and deadlines.

Students

At LSU Eunice, the over 3,000 enrolled students have access to a wide variety of support services to help them achieve their personal, academic, and career goals. A wide variety of online services are available to students with busy schedules, like myLSUE for registration, financial aid, advising and campus services advice; myCourses for online course materials, tutorials services, and online iTunesU lectures; and student email. Additional campus services include enrollment services like academic advising, registration, and support services, as well as Developmental Education: Pathways to Success, Career Services, and Veterans Affairs. Students may seek assistance at any time at the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services located in the Acadian Center on campus. In addition to support services, students have access to a wide variety of research and information resources via LSU Eunice library and collections. Students may access computer labs, media equipment services, and print and electronic materials.

While on campus, students are encouraged to participate and get involved in a variety of clubs and organizations dedicated to academic growth, recreation, and peer interaction. To get involved while building valuable leadership skills, many students also choose to join the Student Government Association, or get involved with the Performing Arts Series, or the Bengal Belles.

To stay close to their studies many students elect to live in the Campus Living Village, the Bengal Village at LSU Eunice. With opportunities for community, recreation and environmental growth and consciousness, students enjoy a valuable life experience when living in the Bengal Village campus housing. All buildings emphasize environmental consciousness by utilizing a large quantity of recycled materials and products, and apartments come equipped with full service kitchens, dining areas, furnished living rooms, telephone and cable television connectivity. Students may choose from private bedroom apartments or shared living situations, and have access to the residential community’s swimming pool, barbecue pavilion, sports court and clubhouse, big screen television, and computer lab and study room.

Athletics

The Louisiana State University-Eunice Bengals intercollegiate athletics programs were established in 1999, and have grown rapidly. Competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association, LSU Eunice fields teams in women’s basketball, men’s baseball, and women’s softball. Bengals may also compete in a variety of intramural sports teams like flag football, and volleyball amongst others.

Students may sign up for intramural sports like flag football, basketball, softball and volleyball, or just head to the multipurpose gym with its indoor archery range, indoor driving range, putting surface, weight training, conditioning room, and heated swimming pool.
