Like most technical colleges, McFatter states one of its main goals as preparing students for the working world. The Career Services Center at McFatter Technical College is committed to assisting students in gaining employment in their chosen technical fields. Advisors provide assistance to graduating students in a variety of areas, including letters of recommendation, resume preparation, job search tips and employability skills seminars.
The Job Placement Center at McFatter also does all that it can to provide students with access to potential employers. Its Job Bank and Job Fairs seek to put students into contact with businesses. Moreover, its industry contacts are often utilized to gain employment for those graduating. The school is committed to fueling the local job market.
McFatter Technical College has a nondiscriminatory admissions policy. It admits students who have completed secondary school education, have passed the minimum compulsory education age, are high school students (and have permission from their high school guidance departments) or are veterans. Students must have basic skill levels in reading, mathematics and language arts to enter into a degree program, and those who do not will be provided with assistance in attaining such skills.
Applicants for technical programs at McFatter must attend one of the weekly departmental orientations offered at the school. Individual counselor interviews will be scheduled following the orientation program to discuss program placement, test results, special needs and any other questions or concerns a student may have. Registration procedures will also be explained at this time.
Prospective students should note that registration takes place five times per year, in August, November, January, April and June.
McFatter students in need of financial aid must submit a FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in order to begin the application process, which lasts normally between four and six weeks. Students may receive financial aid rewards in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and work study, depending on need and availability.
Students should note the requirements that go along with receiving McFatter Technical College Financial Aid. Students who choose to study part time will have less funds available to them. Furthermore, if students do not maintain a C average, complete classes and maintain attendance, they may be placed on probation or denied future assistance.
The student body of McFatter Technical College is a relatively small one with less than one thousand students enrolled.
