Pennco Tech’s Bristol location offers students the opportunity to get practical career training in the medical and technical fields, just minutes from central Philadelphia. Since 1973, Pennco Tech has been the answer to students looking to complete coursework leading directly to entry-level employment. Associate degree and diplomas are currently being offered.

The medical and healthcare fields continue to grow in the United States and students at Pennco Tech – Bristol can get a foot in the door of the Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician careers. While both careers are focused on the customer service angle of the industry, pharmacy technicians will need to deliver precise amounts of medications in the course of a day’s work. A medical assistant’s duties will often be centered around paperwork, but accurately documenting vital signs is an important function as well.

Students looking to begin a career in the automotive repair industry can choose from the Auto Body and Paint Technician curriculum or the Automotive Technology career at Pennco Bristol. For a full degree, a total of 2100 hours of day classes must be completed.

Pennco Tech’s HVAC training programs give students the opportunity to enter the workforce in the in-demand field of A/C, heating system and refrigeration troubleshooting and repair. Besides general approaches to safety and regulations, students will be able to service everything from older machines to the most modern devices with on-hands training.

Other major programs at Pennco Tech prep students for careers in Plumbing/Heating Technology and as an Electrician. Diplomas in either field will require 900 hours of class time.

Admissions

Admissions requirements to programs at Pennco Tech’s Bristol location will depend on the specific curriculum. In general, a high school diploma or GED certificate will be required, though the Ability to Benefit Test and essay may allow students to enter some programs. A non-refundable application fee will be charged when all paperwork and transcripts are submitted for review by the Admissions Office. An interview is required of all students hoping to enter Pennco Tech in the following semester.

Students

Pennco Tech students will find themselves having entered a career rather than a field a field of study from the first day arriving at school. Maintaining this focus throughout the completion of curriculum is the goal of students and teachers alike. Students will have access to an on-campus residence hall if living at school is a priority. In addition, an on-site Child Care center will help parents manage responsibilities and attend school simultaneously.

Access to Career Services may be the most important part of a Pennco Tech education as studies wind down. Help with job placement, resume-building and other key parts of the search are available in the Career Services Center on campus.

Bristol was the site of one of the most famous events in American history – the crossing of the Delaware by George Washington and his army en route to an attack on British-funded Hessian soldiers stationed in neighboring New Jersey. Area residents will be happy to point interested parties to Washington’s Crossing. Besides the historical nature of Bristol and its many Revolutionary-era structures, its proximity to Philadelphia and Trenton will be useful for travel and cultural explorations. Philadelphia is home to many world-class museums, including the Barnes Foundation in Overbrook, the Rodin Museum near the River Drive and the Philadelphia Art Museum which is positioned on a direct axis from the grand City Hall. Fans of professional sports can find teams in all four major U.S. sports, with baseball’s Phillies being the most successful in recent times.
